The beginning and the end of the show:

NSA Phone Surveillance

The government is collecting phone records from Verizon so that they can spy on your phone calls. And this is news, how? It’s been going on for years.

“The government is collecting data on our phone calls and unlike the Bush administration, it’s the Obama administration. This guy is always trying to outdo his predecessor. (using goofy sounding voice) ‘oh, he poured water on their face, oh I’m gonna blow ’em up'”

They are collecting telephony metadata.

“Metadata is information about a call’s length, location and participants, and telephony is what a 2-year-old calls a telephone. Believe me, Obama knows all about the phone calls between Betsy and puppy wuppy”

The New York Times now says that The Obama administration has lost all credibility after this latest revelation.

“Yes, I’d like to order home delivery of The New York Times…my wife likes it for the style section, I go straight for the Obama bashing.”

Colbert Classic - Spy Training with Peter Earnest

Since the government is spying on you, Stephen felt the need to refresh his skills he learned when he went to see Peter Earnest at the International Spy Museum.

When Mr. Earnest showed Stephen his merit medal, Stephen knew that he wanted it.

He donned a disguise to show how well he could fool someone.

“I’ll say something only Peter Earnest would say…I’m Peter Earnest”

Then he had to complete his training by successfully completing a covert mission. He knew right away that he had to go get that medal.

SUCCESS! until…

Easy come, easy go.

Interview - John Mellencamp, Stephen King & T Bone Burnett - Pt. 1

They have collaborated on a CD, book, play and microwaveable entrees, or so we hear, called “The Ghost Brothers of Darkland County”. ‘Twas a very spirited bunch and made for a fun interview. No singing though. 🙁 Oh well, can’t always get a song.

The story behind the album is about these two brothers who got into a fight in their front yard and one hit the other over the head with a fireplace poker. Then he and another girl ran off to get help, but they died in a car wreck and when the other brother was found, as Stephen King was so eager to hear, his head had been eaten by animals, but his body was still in the front yard.

This was Stephen King’s reaction to hearing the outcome for the headless brother:

“YES!”

Well, ya know, it is Stephen King. He mentioned that it gives new meaning to getting…something that rhymes with “dead”.

Was Stephen C blushing after Stephen K said that? Mr. Mellencamp seemed to think so.

Their collaboration is available as a CD, a book, a play and an enhanced e-book and possibly microwaveable entrees. That would be cool!

Lots of great artists including Sheryl Crow, Elvis Costello who plays the devil, Kris Kristofferson and Matthew McConaughey who read on the album.

“Please tell me he read it without a shirt on…tell me because I’ll hear the shirt.”
