Tonight, the Late Show welcomes actors Lily Tomlin and Kumail Nanjiani, plus comedy from Ryan Hamilton.

    Breaking: Stephen did a bit where he went out into the audience! It only took 8 months but yay! 😉 It worked so nicely. Just yay. I am still watching the show.

      Agree….love that he went into the audience. I think LSSC has been missing some of the intimacy with the audience and viewers (ex. playing “games” that include viewers such as SuperPac, naming bridges etc,). Hopefully we’ll be seeing more of that. Perhaps some fresh eyes on the show (Chris Licht?) will prove to be a valuable thing. I like some of the tweaks (ex. cold opens) that have happened so far.

      And the other guests were just fine, but I could have very happily listened to Lilly Tomlin and Stephen talk all night. They seemed to have a great rapport.

        I definitely agree with you that we are seeing a difference with Licht. Judging from the morning show, I like the way he produces things, and I see that influence already. One of the things you realize when Paul Mercurio is warming up the audience is how naturally funny the audience is. Many of them have waited hours either to see Stephen and/or try to have the best time while visiting New York. It’s a great untapped resource for the show to go out and interact. Stephen has to feel comfortable with it, and he will. He’s coming around. I am proud of him for trying new things.
