Cartoon Donald Trump is terrified of Stephen’s pen bomb in yet another killer Trump-related segment.

I am starting to think that The Late Show is not so much a “chat show,” but a place for good actors to be properly recognized and affirmed, basically. A common thread in many of the recent interviews involves Stephen asking pointed questions about the interviewee’s current works, his/her approach to acting, and any interesting other talents he/she possesses. I think his method might create a really nice space on television for performers/entertainers to hang out and for the general public to get to know them for who they really are, not just how they would like to present themselves. I feel Stephen doesn’t so much interview as examine, but not in exploitative way. It’s more like a physician examining a patient. Maybe it’s his Dad’s influence?

I hope you enjoyed last night’s show. I will have more guide in a little bit on this episode. In the mean time, let us know how you felt about it in the comments.

they did also get to see Flaming Lips - so i guess they taped it after all. hopefully they’ll broadcast it soon.

  • Cartoon Donald Trump was absolutely hilarious. I loved how Eric Stonestreet and Stephen talked about The Second City and both of them gave a major shout-out to Ms. Tina Fey! Stephen’s advice to Jason Jones was excellent and I’m sure you really had to “leave your soul at the door” to do those field pieces on TDS. That’s what made them so great! Elizabeth Warren was excellent and such a crowd pleaser. She is so passionate and I love her politics.

I just loved Stephen’s opening salute to Ben Innes for his “bravery and ridiculousness”. Inspired piece.
