I enjoyed the Krasinski interview. They could have done more with him, as clearly he enjoyed Stephen so much, but it still was good. I liked the segments on the Bundy clan and the Star Wars, they were very Report-esque, and I’m beginning to consider that being a good thing for this show.
Also, he did the Cliven Bundy song at an April 2014 taping I was at, so it a was nice trip down memory lane.

I will say that I am also starting to think that having fewer guests is also worth considering. They are all good but there are too many and so many ideas being hurtled at the viewer. I think 2 + music or performance works well.

    • DeeCee

Totally agree with having 2 guests. It always feels too choppy to me when there are too many guests marching in and out and too many obvious cuts in the interviews. I think one way Stephen could separate himself/his show from others with more in-depth interviews.

      • Gina

I think we’ve finally sorted out what should be done with the guests :) We’ve said our piece.

    • Erika Bade

Yes, me too! And John Krasinski should have been a two-parter! He is fun and is a good story teller, the perfect celebrity interview that could generate interest in the show without being vapid.

    • K.V. Lady

I love those little flashbacks to the Report!

  • Erika Bade

I can’t comment on the beginning of the show, for some reason I keep tuning in late….10:30 is a weird transitional time at my house apparently. Anyway, John Krasinski was a really good guest and I highly enjoyed Killer Mike, who I became familiar with just recently when he had a great interview with the Bern. I love it when Stephen puts himself into slightly uncomfortable conversations, especially when it’s with such a welcoming partner like Killer Mike.
As for George Church, the subject matter certainly interests me, but the interview didn’t work for whatever reason. The guy was nervous or it was just clunky.

I get it Stephen, you have a big crush on Rachel Weisz! I’m not jealous or anything 😉

    • Gina

As long as you can come here and enlighten us with your comments, tune in whenever you can! I know, I am also totes jealous of Rachel Weisz. She gets Daniel Craig and the admiration of Stephen.

      • RA

Is the Rachel Weisz infatuation carried over from TCR or is this a new real Stephen thing?

        • Erika Bade

He’s mentioned it a few times, on both shows. For some strange reason, I always tune into things like that, people’s crushes and whatnot. Maybe I’m just nosy, but anyway, yeah he’s definitely dropped her name a few times. I still remember how jealous I was when he and Paul Dinello both went on and on about how hot Winona Ryder is (or was, at least) on the commentary for the last Strangers With Candy episode.

          • ColbertsLassNC

YES Erika, YES! There were also ‘rack’ references too, which were hard to forget him discussing about. We have to remember he was in his 30’s back then. Lmao.

  • RA

Wait! When was the Foals song recorded? Coz they’re in Sydney right now.

    • Katt

You’re absolutely right. Some friends went to their concert last night, it didn’t even register with me that they were also on ‘The Late Show’ at pretty much the exact same time!

        According to reddit user redikulous:

Interesting fact. This was actually filmed on the 12/17/15 show after Michael C Hall’s performance. Apparently The Foals were available then so they decided to film the performance that night.

        • RA

If it’s a pre-taped performance, why cram it in with three other guest!?

          • Roseha

So maybe that was why Stephen had on the familiar blue suit! :) It fits with almost all shows.
Yes, four guests is a lot, maybe they should “under-book” with an average of two so if they end up with extra people they don’t have this situation again. Also they would have more time for the comic bits. John Krasinski was a good guest and I enjoyed Stephen’s exchange with “Killer Mike” as well. I did think the satire on the militia men was very Report-reminiscent. I know some people on the web are eagerly waiting for another Hungry for Power Games installment - maybe tonight?

  • ColbertsLassNC

Decent show last night, though not close to how good Monday’s was! I wasn’t expecting Krasinski to be that ripped in the picture though, or ‘jacked’, as Stephen would commonly say.

I too have another suggestion about the minimum/maximum number of guests thing per night… perhaps when he decides to have a larger interview roster, he could change up the interview style to that of a panel discussion or a general sit-down, such as how Corden or Norton would do, but he could always put his own spin on it… just an idea. 😉

What is the name of the very famous song the band played during the first commercial break?
