This show was so much more relaxed than Friday’s over-the-top (but wonderful) Halloween extravaganza. There weren’t any formal segments, it was kind of nice to hear Stephen riffing about food (I have heard Tauruses like to eat a lot, does this explain his comedy?) The Foreigner lyrics thing with Allison Janney was so redonk, was just laughing my head off on that one. Colin was even better this time than in the test taping I saw. I am sorry he got hurt! Breaking your ribs is just the perfect way to screw yourself up for a while. I would have happily tweeted a pic of his misery for him, just to make him happy :) Watch the show so I don’t sound like a psycho for saying that.

Speaking of “psychos,” (again, watch the ep for the reference) this was a Cho-heavy episode. I have Asian friends who don’t like her comedy style because they think she is too self-deprecating, but, she’s been around for a long time. Actually, over the summer I attended a panel she did at the Just For Laughs festival, and she was talking about her career which has been going on for 20-odd years now. It was weird and kind of nice to see her, because I would have never expected that. Getting back to the ep, it was nice to hear them both talk about racism/comedy. She seemed to really enjoy that too, judging from the hand clutching at the end of the interview.

We all learned an important lesson in this episode. Never question Stephen when it comes to breakfast food. “Bada-ba-ba-ba, I told you so.”

I really loved when Allison Janney and Stephen acted out the “Hot Blooded” lyrics. I was cracking up over that!

I wasn’t too impressed with last night’s show overall, tbh… I guess after putting together such a huge ordeal last week it was hard to have energy to get another one churned out so quickly. I enjoyed Allison, but had an odd hope for wanting them to bring up their work in Strangers, though Stephen doesn’t really ever talk about SWC anymore… just would’ve been nice to hear some memories on the topic.

Colin was a bit salty - but that’s how he is anyway, so it was expected.

Cho… was just… well, herself. I am not a huge fan and didn’t care too much for her segment nor song at all… but I did appreciate the end when she ripped the wig off and heard Stephen say ‘you look lovely’… was this just for show, or has she fought cancer? I don’t know as much about her.

I don’t know about cancer, but the song was about lice, so perhaps she actually had lice?

Aww, both Janney and Cho got to hold hands with Stephen!
I, too, suffer from SAD, and I have a light box, but it doesn’t really help. The only thing that helps is watching Colbert every night! That’s one reason why last winter was so tough and why I’m so glad he’s back again. Laughter is like sunshine for the soul, and no one makes me laugh harder than Stephen Colbert.

“Laughter is like sunshine for the soul, and no one makes me laugh harder than Stephen Colbert.” Beautifully said!
