Of all the episodes to get the loading wheel of doom on when I head over to Colbert Nation, it has to be this one!! And on top of that tumblr was down!!
I’ll pop up some quotes for now, and hopefully the internet fixes itself and I can get my Tom Hanks / Matt Damon fix for the day!!
Quotes:
“According to a new report on CNN.com, women vote based on their ovulation cycles. They study says that when single women are ovulating, they ‘feel sexier,’ and therefore lean more toward liberal attitudes on abortion and marriage equality — which is why instead of emails, Obama’s just sending late-night texts that say ‘U up?’”
Stephen Colbert: Tom, I am disappointed in you. This was never about helping people, this was a cynical manipulation of innocent children to plug your movies.
Tom Hanks: Stephen, I can’t control what kids like. What with their SpongeBob, Pokemon, and their Cloud Atlas.

Matt Damon: What is the deal, Hanks?
Tom Hanks: Matt Damon!! What are you doing here?
Matt Damon: You asked me to come down here. You said it was for charity. And then you shove me out of the way. I’ve got better things to do!! I could be drunk right now, in a movie theatre, heckling ‘Argo’. You know I have a - ooh candy!
Thank you Stephen Colbert! (and Tom Hanks and Matt Damon). So my favorite team, the Minnesota Vikings, played a special Thursday night game tonight and just had the crap beaten out of them, therefore; I was a little down right before watching this show. Not only did they lose, but because of the game being shown on NBC for us locals, I don’t get to watch The Office episode with Stephen until tomorrow. Grrrrr. Stupid football. Anyway! Boy did I get cheered up in a hurry!
I was actually just a tinge let down at first, because I thought when he opened that door, Amy would be on the other side. Yes, I may be one of the only people who thinks Tom Hanks is a step lower than Amy Sedaris haha. He was GREAT though! I love how he likes to play around with his “nice guy” image (he was also really funny on Jimmy Fallon, by the way). No “That Thing You Do” love Tom? One of my favorite movies ever! I’ll just go ahead and dress up as an Oneder band member for Halloween.
I was surprised he gave Mitch Daniels two segments. Not sure why because he was a classic dodger, but I’ll let it go since the first part of the show was so epic.
That John Colbert really could have a future in show business!

Had to love the whole Hanks segment — I am sure he would be the first to admit, who would help him promote his movie in such a creative way? And Matt Damon! Are you kidding me?! I hope this means he will come on the show as a proper guest.
John Colbert did such a great job! Such confident delivery, hmmm I recognize that from somewhere. He must be getting some good acting coaching

I love the whole Tom Hanks segment. What a lucky studio audience. I’m about the watch it again (thinking of skipping Mitch Daniels all together). Yes, John did very well - I love the twinkle in his eye as he said his lines.

The Halloween segment with Tom Hanks and Matt Damon at the end was absolutely fantastic. I love when Tom Hanks is on the show. And Stephen’s son John is definitely did a fine job with his lines. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit, if he ended following in his dad’s foot steps in the future. As for the interview with Gov. Mitch Daniels, I really can’t stand the man and neither can any other people here in northwestern Indiana. We are happy he’s leaving office soon.

Got to say, I really, really dislike Mitch Daniels — but I thought Stephen asked some very tough questions of him, particularly about the “rape Republicans.” And I actually think moving away from the subject when it was inadequately answered harmed Daniels: it looked as if he really just couldn’t think of anything to say. And then, Stephen would raise yet another subject which stumped Daniels. All in all, I think Stephen did a really great job. And I think it was as Stephen, not “Stephen.”

Wow! Stephen really hammered Daniels! I’m quite surprised. Thrilled. But surprised. Stephen had been pretty soft on his Republican guests recently. (Think Nikki Haley.) But Daniels he really went after. Mitch spend the whole interview with that same defeated look on his face that Papa Bear had on his after Stephen mentioned “sexual harassment” at the beginning of their interview.
I think Karenatasha is right about Daniels not doing himself any favors with his unwillingness to merely distance himself from that scum Mourdock. It made him look weak and pathetic. As well as hopelessly partisan.
Hopefully, Stephen will bring that same mentality to his upcoming interview with that b@stard Alan Simpson. I really hate him.
