Well that’s it for Colbchella folks. I’m putting my bid in for StePhest Colbchella ’013 - Down Under!! There is plenty of room in my backyard to host a rockin’ music festival. I’ll just tell mum and dad to turn the TV up cause I’m having people over. They will never notice a thing …
Pepsi. You know their motto? ‘Live for now’, which takes on a darker meaning if you insert a coma ‘Live, for now’.
Yes, the Enlightenment was a fascinating debate back in the 18th Century. About whether science and reason had a role to play in the public sphere. A debate to the Republicans, rages on to this day.
Now folks this dark choice goes beyond the Presidential race. Control of the Senate is also up for grabs. So Senate candidates are addressing what many voters are saying ‘Hey! Maybe we should stop holding elections’. Of course, I’m talking about appealing the 17th Amendment, which specifies that there be ‘… two Senators from each State, elected by the people thereof …’ It is the Constitution biggest mistake, if you don’t count the typo in the first draft that guarantees everyone ‘trial by Jerry’. He was firm, but he was fair.
By Senators who want to go back to the good old days were Senators were appointed by State legislators. It’s a process the Senate’s own website says was marked by “deadlocks”, “intimidation and bribery”. In other words, exactly as it is now minus all that stupid voting.
Why should I have to vote for my Senator? I already voted for my State Senator, he knows what I like. Let him order for me. It makes me feel pampered. You know, order me somethin’ nice, but remember I’m allergic to shellfish and black people.
Stephen: You look good on your back.
Wayne: Do you I?
Stephen: You do to. I’m guessing that’s not the first time you’ve heard that?
Wayne: Well it’s the first time I’ve heard it from you.
Stephen: Wayne, being in this capsule here with you, lying next to you like this, does this make me a groupie? It’s that what groupie means? You’re kind of grouped together in small spaces.
Wayne: It’s a term for people who want to have sex with you because they like your music.
Stephen: You have a six-hour song.
Wayne: We do.
Stephen: Who is that for?
Wayne: Well …
Stephen: Other than me, because I use it to make love. Obviously I have to put that on repeat.
Wayne: I, I like that. Wow that’s a lot of information.
You are also lucky to still be together as a band because she (Yoko Ono) will break up a band. She’ll break up any group of people. She was at The Daily Show briefly. That’s why Carell and I left.
that pic of Stephen in the bubble is AWESOME! where did it come from?

It’s awesome, but he looks like a character in a Baz Luhrmann film!

He had such fun in the bubble! Stephen’s pretty game to try anything, hmmm?
I loved the interview with Wayne Coyne. He seemed smart, relaxed, aware of Stephen’s persona, and able to keep the chat going in the right direction.

Oh and: wasn’t that segment on electing our senators AMAZING! His “zap” matched perfectly with Jon’s earlier “zings” on the disgusting and should-be-illegal voting regulations in PA and Ohio. Excellent work, guys!

I loved that Daily Show segment too. We have a voter ID amendment coming up for vote this year in MN and I don’t have high hopes for it not passing. I think the word isn’t getting out enough that identification voter fraud isn’t a big deal and if you “think” about it, without any information, it could seem like a good idea. The voters just aren’t informed enough. I do have high hopes for our marriage amendment though.
VOTE NO!

‘The Flaming Lips’ keyboardist really needed to stop making out with that poor microphone. It was grossing me out. Though, I did discover why I will never be a rock star. I like my guitars to look brand spankin’ new, and not a display board for every brand of tape on planet Earth.
Did anyone else notice Stephen hesitate after Wayne said he’d chose sex over music? I wonder what he was thinking.
The space bubbles look like so much fun. Though, I imagine getting out of one would be like being born again … or for the first time if you were a C-section.

@Karenatasha
What I loved about the interview with Wayne is that because of the locale, the camera was on both Wayne and Stephen the whole time. I loved being able to watch Stephen to see his reactions while Wayne was talking. Usually the camera is only on the guest, which is as it should be, I suppose.
Colbchella is now just a memory but a great one!

Yes, it’s been fun to see the unique places Stephen has held his interviews this week! But this one was the most intimate-you could see them both, very close together-and it’s nice that Coyne was so comfortable with it. Sometimes it’s helpful to have the usual format broken….
And yes, the good memories remain and will for a long time!

Goodness, Stephen looks great in that second-to-last interview pic with Coyne. I really liked Coyne the last time he was on, so this time was double cool because of the locale. And the space bubbles! I just imagine Stephen, in the bubble in front of a crowd of people, stopping for a second to take it all in and remember where he is. Best job on the planet.
The first segment was fantastic, as they have been all week. Seriously, those in-studio segments were on-point all week! You’d think they would take a night off or something from the unbelievable writing because of, you know, holding a concert on the deck of the Intrepid and all, but nope. Spot-on the entire time. And they were made all the more awesome because Stephen did them all in a yellow ascot.
