“Tonight! The Olympics are coming. I’m as excited as a 12-year-old Chinese gymnast pretending to be 16. Then, the culture wars come to fast food. From now on, Dairy Queen is Dairy LGBT. And my guest is Sir Peter Westmacott, the British Ambassador to the United States. God I hope he brought a translator.”

“The 2012 London Olympic Games start tomorrow. Although with the time difference, it could be the day after tomorrow… or last week. The point is, I am, will be, or have been thrilled.”

“For many, the games are about watching world-class feats of athleticism. But for me, it’s all about hearing them. The crack of the bat, the swish of the three-pointer, the thud of my interest in soccer.”

“Hey, buddy. Utah is not in the middle of nowhere. It’s in the northwest corner of nowhere. Get your geography straight, Doctor Who.”

“No surprise Chick-fil-A supports traditional marriage. Unlike KFC’s Double Down. Two chicken breasts rubbing up against each other? That is nothing but a lesbian fantasy snack.”

“That’s right folks, if you like Santorum, you’ll love Chick-fil-A sauce. It’s a frothy mix of sweet and spicy.”

I’m sure many of the youngs didn’t get it. But I really enjoyed Stephen “slow-motion” Chariots of Fire run over to the interview. I haven’t thought about that movie in decades…and I’ve been all the better for it. :)

Do all British people have silly names? Admittedly, Westmacott isn’t as bad as Honeysuckle Weeks, Googie Withers or Archibald Leach. Hell. It’s not even in the top 100 of silly British names. But it still makes me laugh.

Mr. Arkadin, I love that you mentioned Honeysuckle Weeks! I watched all of Foyle’s War with my mom a couple of years ago and never really got over her name. But let’s not forget British-silly-named-man-of-the-moment Benedict Cumberbatch! ;)

To get back on topic, I thought that whole interview was very enjoyable.

Ahhh, Mr. Arkadin: I am so with you about the “Chariots of Fire” allusion! I really did not like that particular serving of sentimental slop, although the actors did a wonderful job. (By the way, the film also referenced in the opening ceremonies-did Stephen know or was it a lucky guess?)

I LOVED “Foyle’s War,” however. And I love Archibald Leach-the glorious Cary Grant to those of you who did not know.

And, Mariana… Benedict Cumberbatch. Ahhhh. The new “Sherlock” is fantastic and so is he.

Nice little bit of dressage in his run, too, no?

Guest suit report- as a lifelong Massachusetts resident, it’s awfully odd to see it spelled “Red Socks” ;-)
Also, wasn’t there going to be a dressage field piece?? Monday maybe?? (pouts)

Also, Stephen looks incredibly debonair in the backstage pic with the Ambassador.

Maybe he’s holding the dressage piece until the dressage events in the Olympics.

The segment was pushed back to a later date, perhaps to coincide with the Dressage events. Though, they commenced yesterday.

Yeah, I was reading the schedule. I thought I saw that they were this weekend. I thought it would be too late to coincide, but there are also some dressage events, the finals maybe? toward the end of the Olympics.

    This week hopefully (crosses fingers)
