Are they kidding?
"Only 71% approve of God's handling of creating the universe. That means for 29%, the infinite and unknowable everything just isn't cuttin' it."
I love when Fr. Jim Martin stops by!
"I think that part of being in a relationship to God is being honest about the, as you say, sh*tty parts." - Fr. Jim Martin

And have you watched the best and first Colbert Super PAC ad? It’s delightfully mischievous. And don’t forget to donate!
First of all, Father Martin swearing on national television made him ten times cooler. And secondly, I loved that interview. It meant a lot to me that Stephen brought up the ability to be thankful for suffering. The fact that Stephen and Father Martin were able to have a thoughtful discussion about questioning God during a comedy show airing at 11:30 at night is a very good example of why I love this show so much.
It’s also hilarious how Stephen will manage to work in the line, “I have a Super PAC” into every topic and conversation he possibly can. I think he’s still just so happy that the whole thing actually happened.

I agree… and Stephen’s sheer delight at hearing Fr. Martin swear was great to see.
I also really liked the interview. I had heard about this online voting project, but I wonder if it’s a little too pie-in-the-sky. The ideals and the message behind them are sound, but I don’t know if something like this could really generate a third ticket that might have, say, a Republican & Democrat running together. I know that’s cynical of me. I’d like to see it work, but it would sort of be like David & Goliath, with Goliath being very corrupt and having lots and lots of money. I’ll definitely check it out, though. (I thought it was very funny the way Stephen responded with a literal wag of his finger when Elliot Ackerman asked if he’d support his cause without using PAC money. And you’re right, Lockhart43, Stephen will bring up that PAC at every chance he gets!)
I can’t wait to hear the response to Stephen’s PAC ad! I wonder what Rick Perry thinks of Rick Parry! (Ha, ha, ha…)

I am so far behind on my TCR watching that it’s officially sad, but I had to take a few minutes this morning to watch the first part of the show since I knew Fr. Jim would be on. I love the fact that he and Stephen can have discussions about serious religious topics that are both enlightening and entertaining. That’s why Fr. Jim is one of my favorite TCR guests. And you can tell they both enjoy themselves during these interviews. They have a wonderful rapport. Also? I love Fr. Jim’s new nickname, “Papa J.” Hah! Oh, and bonus points to Fr. Jim for swearing on national television and making them bleep him. Stephen’s reaction to that was hilarious.
And on a totally different topic, I want a t-shirt that ways “FREEBERTY.”

God forgive me for this, but whenever I see Stephen and Fr. Jim together I think how much fun a threesome would be.

Only you, Bentley… Of course, you are referring to a 3-way dialectical discussion of quantum mechanics and its implications for the re-interpretation of biblical discourse. Well, I’ll give you this, you’ve managed to cast the Trinity in a whole new light…
Good to see you over here, Bentley.

i landed here looking to clarify a quote from last night’s episode, but I think what I have is closer to what was said than what you’ve got here. Anyway, I’ll keep looking, but what I jotted down quickly when I watched it was: I don’t trust a Mormon as far as I can throw a Muslim…at an Atheist.
It’s funny as-is, but hilarious to me because not only did I used to be Mormon, but now I’m essentially an Atheist currently dating a Muslim. No seriously. LOL.

just watched the clip and you got it right! Was talking about Mormons, but your quote is spot on. Cheers.
