Tonight’s episode highlights a real act of patriotism, that of honoring the troops with acts of service. This is of course exemplified by Stephen in his many philanthropic efforts for the troops, and his epic show run in Iraq, but also by Mr. Sinise as well. When discussing Sinise’s multiple USO tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, Stephen replied, “You make me feel like a pussy….it was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had, performing for those people.”
But also a few well timed barbs at Texas, too. And Lexington, KY.
Finally, an excellent on-air pre-FEC testimony prep session with Mr. Potter. I am kind of astounded how open Stephen has made his petition before the FEC, strategizing with his attorney right on air. And Trevor Potter has been a good sport as well, along for the ride with his brilliant, hugely famous, albeit slightly eccentric client.
What do you think Hubsters? Comment below or face peril.
What’s the 4th without all the great fireworks? Like “The Punisher,” “The De-Thumbinator,” and “The Eardrum Sodomizer.”
“I know that ad might seem racist, but if you look past the racism, there’s also a real message of misogyny.”
Any lucky Hubsters going to be in DC today for the big decision?
Apparently it was delightful actor night. Loved Senise’s bow to the audience and I always want to give Tom Hanks a great big hug. What a sweet guy.

Stephen’s comment, “Well, then we’re going to have fun.” after Trevor Potter told him the FEC cannot arrest him for anything that he does tomorrow was glorious. Loved the mischevious smile on his face, too.
Gary Sinise is awesome. I had no idea he was associated with all of those foundations, that’s really wonderful. And Stephen and Sinise could have traded stories all night as far as I’m concerned; I love hearing Stephen talk about his trip to Iraq. He still sounds awe struck that he was able to go over there.
Let me get this straight: Stephen is in DC this morning (I’m assuming he caught a flight out last night after the show), then he has to immediately come back, finish up the show, and finally tape the episode? And then go to Charleston tomorrow? I sure hope he finds time to sleep at some point.

I know everyone has moved on (understandably) to the Superpac/FEC decision. But I just want to give this show a shout out for the “Golden Reacher-Grabber Award.” My grandmother and mom both had/have (non-golden) reacher-grabbers & to see one of those things in award form caused me to laugh so hard I just about busted my gut!
Also. Does anyone else find it worrying that Stephen is promoting his appearance in SC so much? I’m not against that. But, it’s very unusual for “Stephen” to promoted an event that Stephen is attending. (Did that make sense?) I wonder if tickets aren’t selling that well and that’s why he’s been pushing it so hard. Does anyone know? I’d just hate for something he cares about so much not succeed. Especially since it’s in honor of his father.

Apparently it didn’t want to post my reply to you last night, so here’s me trying to remember what I said, lol:
You’re not wrong; it was unusual for “Stephen” to promote the event on the show, but I think it was because it was in honor of his father that he did it. Maybe he wants to make sure as many people know about it as possible to get the most funding for the endowed chair (though, if it’s anything like the Two River benefit, they won’t have to worry about empty seats - that place was packed). I think he was able to joke about it (ie saying he and Jonathan Alter would “fight to the death”), and but not take away the sincerity and honesty of it.

Actually I did read your first post last night. (BTW I hope you’re right. And that it’s not sluggish ticket sales.) Maybe it got lost in the change over.
Also. Let me say, you must have a memory like a steel trap! Because as far as I can remember your 2nd post is word for word what your 1st post was. Amazing!

@Mr. Arkadin Haha, well thank you. I do what I can. All those match memory card games when I was 6 must have paid off.

@Karenatasha Oh wow, I didn’t realize it was such a short flight there. Yeah that would make sense then for him to have gone in the morning. And even though I’m always sad when the shows go dark, they deserve the time off. Here’s hoping he gets some time to relax in his home state.

@Mr. Arkadin - Now that I’m thinking of it, our comments about “Raising Hope” from the Janny Scott Episode Guide seem to have disappeared in the fray as well. Did you read my comment back to you before it went away? It was something to the effect of, “I’m so happy you got a chance to see ‘Raising Hope!’” and that I agree with you about the pilot episode.

You’re right! Our comments are missing! Oh well. It’s everybody else’s loss. We were riveting!
Yes. I did get your comments. I’m going to try and catch the other “Hope” shows you recommended. Thanks as always.

@Mr. Arkadin @lockhart43 The site went through a change of life, so maybe some comments got deleted. These are all growing pains for the awesomeness to come! Happy 4th.

@lockhart43 Hi! Just wanted to say I saw another “Raising Hope” you recommended today. ” “Burt Rocks.” It’s second only to “A Germ of a Story” in my affection. Smokey Floyd! Ha! Very funny show!
I thank you once again.

Oh yay! That makes me so happy that you like the “Burt Rocks” episode. Ha, yeah I laughed so hard when I first saw Jason Lee as Smokey Floyd. I think the creator of the show is the same guy who created “My Name Is Earl,” which would also explain why Jamie Pressly and Ethan Suplee are also in a later episode (which is another good ep).
You are very welcome! I’m just happy to hear you’re liking the show.
