1. Watch the Official Ticket Page

Tickets for the Late Show with Stephen Colbert are in high demand and will generally sell out within days of, if not the day of their release. Tickets are available from the 1iota website, and are released one calendar month at a time. Their release is announced on the Late Show’s official Twitter and Facebook pages, approximately three to four weeks in advance. If you plan on visiting New York on a certain day, continue checking these sites, as extra tickets have, on occasion, been announced the day of the taping.

2. VIP Tickets

VIP Tickets are occasionally posted for auction on eBay, with the proceeds raised going to charities. Ticket packages can include 2-4 tickets, backstage passes, and on occasion a (brief) “Meet and Greet” with Stephen Colbert. If you purchase these tickets, you will get priority entrance and access to the best seats.

3. CC Ticket Notifier

CC Ticket Notifier utilises an app called PushBullet, which is capable of sending instant notifications – it only takes a matter of seconds – to any iOS or Android device, windows desktop or via the PushBullet extension for Google Chrome and Firefox.

When a user signs up to this free service, they receive an instant notification to any of these devices, as soon as tickets become available. When the notification is received, users only need to click on the notification to be redirected immediately to the ticket page.

If you do not wish to go through the hassle of fiddling with another app, the service can also send email notifications, however email notifications are a little bit slower than the instant PushBullet notifications.

4. CC Ticket Notifier (Premium)

CC Ticket Notifier’s premium ticket notification service allows users to be notified only for the specific dates on which they wish to attend a taping of ‘The Late Show’, and thus prevents users from receiving large amounts of notifications for all available dates.

Things to Remember Before Attending a Taping:

  1. You must be 16 years old or over to attend a taping.
  2. Tickets are non-transferable.
  3. You can only attend one taping every six months.
  4. All shows are overbooked to ensure capacity, and no one is guaranteed entry.
  5. Everyone must have a government issued picture ID to security.
  6. Bring your confirmation e-mail confirming that you have tickets. It’s great to keep it with you (or on your smart phone or tablet) in case something goes wrong.

 
What Time Should I Arrive?

The recommended arrival for each taping will be clearly printed on your ticket, however, should you wish to sit close to the front of the stage it is recommended that you be in line between 11AM – 12PM.
 


 
When Is Friday’s Episode Taped

Two episodes of the Late Show are taped on Thursday. The first taping takes place at 2:30PM (approx.) and will air on Thursday night, the second taping commences at 5:30PM (approx.) and will air on Friday night.
 


 
How Long Does a Taping Last?

Tapings usually last between 60-90 minutes. Once entering the Theater, guests are required to stay for the duration of the taping.
 


 
What Happens if a Taping is Cancelled?

If a taping is cancelled due to inclement weather or for any other unforeseen reason, ticket holders will be notified via email or telephone by the Late Show audience department.

Can I Request Tickets to Multiple Tapings?

Ticket requests can be submitted for multiple dates. You cannot, however, “rank” which taping(s) you would prefer to attend.

1iota aim to get as many different fans in to see a show as possible. Keeping this in mind, please be aware that once a ticket has been made available to you, or once you have reserved a ticket, it is less likely that you will receive tickets for the same or different show around the same date.

 


 
Can I Change the Date / Event I Have Submitted a Ticket Request For?

No, ticket requests cannot be transferred to a different date or event. If you are unable to use your ticket(s) for a specific date or event, you must decline those tickets, and re-submit a ticket request for a date or event you can attend.

 


 
How Are Ticket Requests Processed by 1iota?

Ticket requests are processed in the order in which they are received. 1iota recommend that if intend to request tickets for multiple dates and/or events, that you take the following into account:

  • If you receive tickets for one of the days you’ve requested, would you rather have them for a different date? If so, only request for that second date.
  • If you have a preference for what date you’d like to receive tickets for, only request your top few. You cannot “rank” your requests when submitting.
  • If you’d be happy with any of several dates, then submit requests for those dates.

 


 
What Are “Priority” Tickets?

Priority Tickets are handed out by 1iota using a completely automated system, in which the first x number of ticket reserved will be priority. The system is designed to benefit those who planned ahead and claimed their tickets first.

For those who have received General Tickets, there is still a chance that you may be upgraded to priority tickets. If a priority ticket holder cancels their ticket(s), the system automatically upgrades the next person(s) on the general ticket holders list.

While you cannot upgrade from a general ticket to a priority ticket, you can downgrade from a priority ticket to a general ticket.

 


 
Can I Request Tickets for Someone Else?

No, tickets are non-transferable. The 1iota member whose name is on the ticket(s) must be the one to use them.

 


 
What Does the “Waitlist” Mean?

The waitlist is simply the 1iota ticket queue. Once tickets fo a specific event or date have been posted, tickets requests are then opened. In most cases, everyone who submits a ticket request is “joining the waitlist”.

Tickets will then be made available to those on the waitlist in the order the ticket requet(s) were received. Tickets are released in batches, and are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. You will be notified via email if your ticket request is approved.

Simply being on the waitlist does not mean that you have tickets to the show. It is important that you confirm your ticket as soon as you receive it, or you may find that your “available” ticket has been claimed by someone else.

 


 
Where Am I on the “Waitlist”?

1iota support staff are unable to see your position on the waitlist, and therefore are unable to tell you if/when a ticket(s) may become available.

 


 
Does My Ticket Guarantee A Seat?

No, a ticket does not guarantee you a seat at the taping. All tapings are book in excess of audience capacity to account for people who confirm ticket bookings but do not show up on the day.


 
How Can I Obtain Tickets to be Auctioned Off for Charity?

The Late Show is committed to making tapings accessible to guests with disabilities. Accessible seating (including companion seating) and other accommodations are provided at all tapings. The availability of accessible seating cannot be assured if the number of audience members requiring accessible seating at a taping exceeds the allotted number of accessible seats. The Late Show also provides assistive listening devices at all tapings. Sign language interpreters and other appropriate auxiliary aids and services may also be provided if a request is made at least three business days before the taping date (The Late Show will attempt to fulfill requests received with less than three days’ notice but there are no guarantees that late requests can be fulfilled).
