In this month’s catch up we have a new humour piece from Frank Lesser, discusses on comedy writing with Meredith Scardino, J.R. Havlan, Josh Lieb and Lewis Black, a new book from David Sedaris, and Steve Carell talks about his Daily Show screaming rivalry with Stephen Colbert.
‘The Daily Show With Jon Stewart’ correspondent Wyatt Cenac has decided to leave the Comedy Central program, the cable network confirmed. Cenac, who has been on ‘The Daily Show’ since 2008, will stay on through the remainder of the year, which means three more weeks as the last Daily Show for 2012 tapes on Thursday, December 13.
“Jon and the staff wish him the best in his future endeavors,” a rep for Comedy Central said.
There are no immediate plans to hire a replacement for Cenac as ‘The Daily Show’ does not have a set number of correspondents.

This summer, deranged millionaire John Hodgman will be hosting Indecision in the Park, a free live stand-up show at Central Park’s SummerStage, featuring performances by his Daily Show cohorts Wyatt Cenac, Al Madrigal, John Oliver, Kristen Schaal, executive producer Rory Albanese and co-executive producer Adam Lowitt.
The event will be held rain or shine on Wednesday, June 20 at 8pm. Gates open at 7pm. Enter at Fifth Avenue and 69th Street.

Well folks, The Comedy Awards were taped last night and it was pretty much, unfortunately, a bust all around. Stephen didn’t attend, TCR didn’t win and we weren’t allowed into the press area. However, I refuse to let that get in the way of a nice weekend in NYC.
I did meet up with Karen and we watched as the attendees made their way into the press tent. The way they had it set up was kind of odd. The attendees had to walk across the entrance/exit of a parking garage to get to the press tent. Just at the height of the red carpet arrivals, the Rangers game let out and swarms of people were making their way to the garage to get their cars and were leaving and mucking up the works. As they waited for their cars they were entertained by the passing celebs and one group of hockey fans got their picture taken with a very gracious Matthew Perry.
It didn’t turn out as I expected, but at least now I know a little bit more about what to expect for next year, when Stephen WILL be there. (wags finger) I hope that the reason he didn’t attend was because he knew Jon and crew would win again, and not something more serious.
I did get this raw video of the Daily Show gang (sorry, no Jon) outside the tent and another still shot of the press tent with The Empire State Building in the background. At least I got something ;-D
