Site Update: Technical Difficulties and Staff Openings.

Colbert News Hub Updates G’day Hubsters!

You may have noticed that our post frequency has been has been down of late, and I do sincerely apologise for that. There are a few main reasons for this. Firstly, for the past five weeks I have been away studying in Greece, with a brief stop off in Paris and London – all of which are truly amazing places that I cannot wait to go back and visit. Due to my studies I have been unable to spend as much time working on the site as I have wanted to, nor have I been able to keep up with the awesome six degrees activities that have been going on, but I will be doing a catch up ‘Six Degrees’ post in the near future. Thankfully, our awesome Hub Staffers have all stepped up to help me out and keep things running smoothly while I have been gone. Did I mention that our Hub Staffers rock!?!

Colbert News Hub’s ‘DonorsChoose’ Giving Page Birthday Initiative (Update)

Aside

Colbert News Hub Donors Choose Giving Page
In honor of Stephen’s birthday today, May 13th, our staff at Colbert News Hub have added some new projects to our DonorsChoose Giving Page. What better way to commemorate our favorite host’s birthday than to give a man who has everything something that never goes out of style – a donation to his signature charity. We recognize that times are tough, and we promise not to hold “drives” more than twice a year. If you were thinking of sending Stephen something for his birthday, consider making a charitable donation to some of the projects highlighted on our giving page instead, as it will definitely make a lasting impact in the lives of some deserving kids. Site News: Music Archives Update.

Aside

Stephen Colbert fansite In lieu of the recent influx of musical guests, and Stephen’s delight at serenading us on a weekly basis, I am currently working on updating our Music Archives page.

My aim is to list all of Stephen’s musical performances, whether they be on ‘The Colbert Report’ or elsewhere … well except for ‘Stephen Sings in the Shower’ that is part of my private collection!!

Musical moments from ‘The Colbert Report’ will be listed in chronological with the episode number , original air date and year, link to the performance, song name and featured artist(s). Songs from other events will be listed in chronological order with the event name, original date, song name and featured artist(s). I will also be including an MP3 link and/or linking to a location where you can purchase the song or album, such as iTunes.

I would really appreciate it if you guys could help out by listing Stephen’s musical performances outside of ‘The Colbert Report’. It doesn’t matter if he only sings a few lines, it still counts!! We are after all fangirls and guys!! Also if you are in possession of audio to any of Stephen’s performances, please send me an email with an active link to the song(s). If you have the audio on your computer but no link, feel free to email it as an attachment and I will linkify it for you.

Finally, does anyone know where or if the Stephen Colbert Fanmix ‘Passionately from the Heart – Songs of Love and Opinion’ is still in existence somewhere out there on the interwebs? It has been a star on my iPod for many years, and it would be great if it could be added to the music archives. A huge kudos to the creator, whoever you may be!!

Colbert News Hub Giving Page Update and New Project Initiative

Aside

Colbert News Hub Donors Choose Giving Page

With the Joy Machine powered down over these next couple weeks, we thought it would be good to update all of you in the Hubsterdom on CNH’s charitable initiative, The Colbert News Hub’s Giving Page.

Since the Giving Page’s launch in October, with the support of 12 Hubster donors we have raised $976, and helped 462 children. We have completed projects that have provided kids in South Carolina with books to help their math fluency, beautiful new violins for homeless students, music stands for a school without a music budget, and books to help children appreciate ancient civilizations. Our many thanks to the Hubsters, many of whom immediately pledged money to help fund these projects.

Colbert News Hub’s ‘DonorsChoose’ Giving Page.

Aside

DonorsChoose Logo

We here at Colbert News Hub wanted to do something special to mark ‘The Colbert Report’s’ 6th Year Anniversary. We wanted our gift to be something that both Stephen and the Report staff would all appreciate, especially after all the hard work and effort they put into making an amazing show each night.

After a bit of thinking, we decided upon starting our very own Colbert News Hubs DonorsChoose Giving Page.

Our aim with the ‘giving page’ is to focus on schools in Stephen’s home state of South Carolina. After seeing how much Stephen loves his hometown from the ‘Conde Nast Traveler Awards’, and how much it has influence him, we want all children in South Carolina to grow up as happy as Stephen, and have the same access to great educational materials and resources.

With over 50 projects listed for schools in South Carolina, we have narrowed it down to two that we would first like to complete:

To start the ball rolling Colbert News Hub has made a $250 donation to the ‘Reading for Success in Maths’ project, and have already received a wonderful ‘thank you’ email from the teacher Ms. Wilson.
