Congratulations to the writer’s of “The Colbert Report” who have been awarded the Writers Guild of America Award for “Comedy / Variety (Including Talk) Series” at The 66th Annual Writers Guild Awards. ‘The Colbert Report’ writers have previously won the award in 2012, 2011, and 2008.
On November 7th, 2013, I was one of the lucky members of the audience that got to see Stephen Colbert and the writers of The Colbert Report converse at The Town Hall in NYC. I’ve attended a number of other “conversations” with Stephen, but of course, once is never enough!
There have been a number of very well written articles about the event, namely from Entertainment Weekly and Splitsider. I recommend you read those to get an idea of some of the things that were discussed; both articles are rich with content and quotes. So, enjoy!
However, as great as those articles were, they weren’t able to capture everything that went on. So, that’s what I am here for!! (Contain your excitement, please)!!
StephenSmile64 will have more tidbits from the “Behind the Scenes at ‘The Colbert Report’” panel discussion at the New York Comedy Festival coming soon, but for now Splitsider’s Elise Czajkowski and Entertainment Weekly’s Shirley Li bring you some of the best quotes from the event, including details on network-enforced sponsorship, the logistics of making the show, the inspiration for the set design, what’s under the C-desk and the lowdown on character breaks.
