A Look Back: One Last TCR Thanksgiving for 2014

Colbert News Hub A Look Back Welcome to “A Look Back,” where we review and celebrate select clips from the overwhelmingly voluminous video catalog and the many splendid works of Stephen T. Colbert over the years.

Happy Thanksgiving, Hubsters! I hope our U.S. community members are having a great time with family and friends. I am preparing to deep-fry a turkey for the first time, so keep me in your thoughts/prayers. We may be ordering take out if all else fails.

Although I am doing my best domestic diva impression, thoughts of TCR and its impending finale loom heavily in my mind….how about you guys? I haz a sad, especially with the holidays upon us.

I thought it would be nice to review some great turkey-related moments from the Report before the show shuts down. We are going to feature Joseph Gobbles, the best TCR turkey ever to be had, and a pretty fierce segment about that weird time last year when Hannukah and Thanksgiving intersected. Review these great moments, and shout out your thoughts in the comments!

A Look Back: 2010 Vancouver Olympics

The Sochi Olympics have kicked off, and needless to say, they’ve been kind of a debacle. From the weeks-long media focus on Putin’s strong disregard for and legislative push against the LGBT community, to Pussy-Rioting, to international yogurt intrigue, to facilities and hotels with less-than-adequate accommodations, it’s been a rough go for Russia, and undoubtedly the athletes as well.

The Winter Games’ previous host, Vancouver, was a far more benign, if almost snow-less, venue. Thanks to the Colbert Nation raising $200,000 for the U.S. speed skating team, our fearless host found himself on the cover of Sports Illustrated, and hosting a week of shows for the Games. Let’s take a fond look back at the Winter Olympics that were (with functioning toilets.)

A Look Back — The Wilford Brimley Bromance

Colbert News Hub A Look Back Welcome to “A Look Back,” where we review and celebrate select clips from the overwhelmingly voluminous video catalog and the many splendid works of Stephen T. Colbert over the years.

For this edition of a A Look Back I thought it would be fun to shake things up and honor a very special person in Stephen’s life, Wilford Brimley. According to our fearless host, the pair met when Stephen was an intern on the set of The Firm, and was tasked with shaving Wilford’s back. From then on…it was magic. And “mentoring.” And a lot of early morning phone calls, with our favorite diabeetus spokesperson getting himself into mischief, and usually ending up in imminent personal peril.

I would love to ask the real Stephen sometime where his fascination with this actor came from, but there is no denying he can do a spot-on impression of our walrus-mustached hero. Stephen must see some kind of rock-of-the-ages wisdom in Brimley that is not evident to most people. Let’s take “A Look Back” at TCR’s best Brimley moments.

Happy Olympics, global inhabitants! Hope everybody is excited to see their respective countries take home the gold, or rather the gold-plated silver. Stephen has intermittently covered London’s ongoing march towards this year’s events, and had some hilarious moments covering 2008’s Beijing Olympics. Let’s take a look back at some Summer Olympic-related clips. And best of luck to all participating athletes!
