Hubster Jess has sent us this wonderful “Taping ReporT” of her trip to the July 16th, 2014 taping of “The Colbert Report”.
Happy un-official start to the Summer! (for those of you living here in the U.S.) If you still have leftovers from your Memorial Day picnics, well so do we.
In this edition we go over the big stories that were breaking just before Stephen was announced as the new host of Late Show. There was a nice interview with Stephen’s wife, Evie and yet more stuff about late night TV.
Hello, again! It’s me, StephenSmile64, your trusty Colbert News Hub reporter, bringing you the latest news on all-things Stephen. My latest reporT…Stephen Colbert in Conversation with Dave Itzkoff at the Montclair Film Festival.
Stephen Colbert is a superior father and he has the proof to back that up. “I have a mug that actually verifies that I’m the world’s best dad,” he told BuzzFeed. “That’s a mug. That’s not me talking. You can’t just buy those.”
The Colbert Report host took time to chat via phone while promoting his new DreamWorks animated comedy, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, in which he plays a less-than-perfect father named Paul Peterson. “It’s like Midnight in Paris, but for kids,” Colbert said of the film.
Outside of the realm of animation, the comedian has three children (ages Madeleine 18, Peter 15, and John 12) with his wife Evelyn McGee. Below, Colbert talks about what it’s like to be a famous dad — the good, the bad, and the most hilarious moments.

Attending Tuesday’s State Dinner along with lawmakers and cabinet members, are a list of celebrities, sports stars and civil rights activists.
Headlining the dinner is musician Mary J. Blige, who will perform for the guests. While she told reporters that her last name is French, Blige didn’t disclose what songs she will sing.
Hollywood has a strong showing for the dinner, which will honor French President Francois Hollande. [...] Comedy Central show host Stephen Colbert — who will be seated at the head table with the Obamas and Hollande — and actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who portrays fictional vice president on HBO’s “Veep,” are in attendance.
Playwrights Theatre’s will present a free reading of James Glossman’s adaptation of Suzanne Berne’s novel ‘A Crime in the Neighbourhood’, starring Evelyn McGee Colbert as Marsha (in the present). The reading will be followed by a discussion with Mr. Glossman.

Hot off the heels of her Hobbit cameo, Evelyn McGee-Colbert guest stars in the series finale of ‘Alpha House’ on Amazon Prime. Evelyn has a small part as a reporter from Fox News Sunday who attempts to gain an interview with Senator Gil John Biggs (John Goodman) while at the funeral of another senator.
The episode also marks the acting debut of disgraced former Congressman Anthony Weiner, along with former GOP chairman Michael Steele, former NBC news anchor Tom Brokaw and CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin.
The episode is available to watch on Amazon Prime Instant Video.
For months the Colbert Nation has speculated about Stephen Colberts possible involvement in ‘The Hobbit’ trilogy, after Stephen received an invitation from Peter Jackson to visit the films set in New Zealand.
As the promotional campaign for trilogies second installment, ‘The Desolation of Smaug’ kicks into high gear, IMDB has updated the films listing to included Stephen Colbert, Evelyn McGee, Peter Colbert and John Colbert as ‘Laketown Spies’.
Having not seen the film, I can neither confirm nor deny the casting news, the film isn’t released in Australia until Boxing Day. But for those of you planning on seeing the film in the cinema, keep your eyes peeled during the scenes in Laketown.
Reddit user Boobarella, has this to say about the scene:
“I saw a cut of the film. He’s sitting on a dock in Lake town smoking a pipe if I remember correctly. He’s looking off camera but featured and wearing a mangled wig of long hair. I remember thinking, “they made that guy look like a dirty Colbert.” Turns out…”
Warner Bros. tells Yahoo Movies, that the Colberts all play “Laketown spies” in the film. The location becomes central to the story about two-thirds of the way through the flick as it is the final destination before the dwarves and Bilbo Baggins head into the Lonely Mountain to displace that evil, treasure-hording dragon Smaug. In the town, which floats on an icy lake, the little folk strike a shaky alliance with Bard the Bowman (Luke Evans) and have to hang out there for a bit.
