‘The Political Impact of “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report”‘ Research Survey.

Hubster Mel is completing a thesis examining ‘The Political Impact of “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report“‘, and is on the look out for people to participate in a survey as part of her research.

Thesis Statement: I will examine how ‘The Daily Show’ and ‘The Colbert Report’ are crossing the line between satirical observation and political action. Therefore I will analyze the different approaches of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert in terms of political coverage, the satirical framework of ‘The Daily Show’ and ‘The Colbert Report’, the evolution of the shows and their political importance. Additionally, I will conduct two case studies: Stephen Colbert’s Super PAC and Jon Stewart’s impact on ‘The 9/11 First Responders Bill’.

Since the audience plays an essential role in the shows’ success, I hope that as many viewers/fans as possible will fill out my survey.

The survey is completely anonymous and will take appox. 3-5 minutes to fill out: [Link]

  1. Done and done! Mel, I love that you’re doing your thesis on this, and I especially like the topics you have chosen as case studies. Good luck with your research!

Tip of the Hat! Thumb up +1

  2. Done! Good luck. There were a few I had difficulty responding to, because my opinion veered off in a slightly different direction, or the questions were too complex to answer fully in a Yes/No/Maybe format. I chose what was closest to my opinion.

Tip of the Hat! Thumb up +1

  3. Thank you Katt for putting up the link and THANK YOU EVERYONE who filled it out. One can always count on fellow Colbert Nation members :)

Tip of the Hat! Thumb up +2

  4. @karenatasha

Thank you! I know some questions are relatively general, but I just wanted to examine the general thoughts of the audience, for instance their overall willingness to vote for Stephen and Jon if they ran for office.

Tip of the Hat! Thumb up 0

  5. Done. A couple of the combined Jon/Stephen “how often” questions were hard for me to answer, because I watch Stephen almost every night and Jon only occasionally. So I had to average it out. What a fun thesis topic!

Tip of the Hat! Thumb up 0

And that's the Word!
