Stephen Colbert’s interview on the A.D.D. Comedy Podast is now available for download on [iTunes]
Dave Razowsky and Stephen Colbert give in-depth discussion of the method and madness that goes into creating The Colbert Report, the process behind hiring new writers, and recall their time working and performing together at The Second City and the benefits of learning to fail.
Learning to fail.
I haven’t heard this interview yet, but the idea of learning to fail is not a new one to me, but it’s something that I think about a lot. I wish someone had told me that it’s okay to fail and that you are indeed going to fail and suck at stuff, but to don’t give up because that’s how you get better. It’s too late for me to go back and try to fail at the stuff I wanted to do. However, I try to remember this credo and I can use it to help me with what I do now.

I loved it so much! I will try to come back later to talk more on why I loved it so much, but I don’t have time now. Only thing I wanted to ask was: does anybody know why it was shorter than usual, and seemed to come in mid conversation?

This interview sounds so wonderful. I don’t have Itunes, could someone make a MP3 of the interview? I would truly appreciate it. Thanks!

Like Erika I am pressed for time, but I did get a chance to listen to this interview and it’s truly great. Love what Dave said about respecting the creative abilities of others, and what Stephen said about “letting the people see” your creative work. These are sage words I will take to heart.

The giggle-fest upon remembering the epic-fails … that seems like such confidence and joy!

Oh my gosh, so fabulous! I loved listening to this, and will have to listen again I think. So fun, and a fascinating insight into the theory and structure and profession of comedy and performance!

@Mrc I also loved the part where they are laughing hysterically about watching a Second City sketch bomb. That might have been my favorite moment of the whole interview – which was all excellent. You can tell that Dave and Stephen are good friends.
