“F**k you! I am human being, g*dammit! I have rights! Can’t we move onto some other aspect of our lives?! Not everything is a constant contest for political advantage!! America is facing some serious problems. There are times to run, and there are times to govern, we need to let go, move on, God!! But… what are the numbers?”

I see the portrait covered up in the back! We’ll be having an unveil on Thursday, to be sure. We’ll have more for you on this ep a bit later, but what did you think? Share in the comments.

Intro

  • Do government officials make good role models for our kids? Well, they don’t make good role models for our adults.
  • And, my guest, former Speaker Newt Gingrich, has a new novel about George Washington. “I cannot tell a lie,” I have not read it.
  • Duke University has developed a working invisibility cloak. Now the Blue Devils quidditch team will be unstoppable!

    I haven’t been able to bring myself to watch the interview with Newt yet (he’s just so awful) but I enjoyed the rest of the episode. Only Stephen could manage to get out all those tongue twisters about the Indian festivals! I also liked his reaction to the CNN person saying it wasn’t too early to start talking about the 2016 campaign. Yes …. it …. is.

    For anyone brave enough to have watched Newt, how was it?

  • Mariana312

    I thought “Stephen” was very toned down for Newt, to be honest. Maybe because he doesn’t seem him as important enough anymore to skewer? Newt was also very jokey and smiley, which was a little disconcerting! Stephen even let Newt have the last zinger!

  • Caroline

    @Mariana312 – Thanks for the recap. I think I’ll skip the interview, then. I would only watch if there was some *serious* skewering going on! Otherwise, I have seen and heard enough of Newt to last me a lifetime.

    @Caroline

    There were a few zingers, though. I think Stephen toned it down because Newt did. Gingrich was (for him) on his best behavior–I think to avoid getting himself skewered.

    Stephen’s reaction to the 2016 election talk was priceless! He said exactly what I (and probably everyone else) was thinking. It’s hilarious that we are still thinking of CNN as a news organization. It should just have a ticker running on the bottom of the screen that constantly says, “Please like us! Look! We have graphics and polls and we’re gossiping about trivial crap! We’re interacting with you instead of giving you important news! Please like us!”

    I caught little snippets of the Gingrich interview, but did not watch the whole thing. I just, I can’t. I almost wish that Gingrich was a jerk during it instead of mild-mannered….Newt Gingrich being nice is just weird.
