Musical theatre fans are in for a very special treat. Coming to the big screen at select cinemas on Saturday 31 March and Sunday 1 April is a unique and outstanding production of Stephen Sondheim’s Company, one with a brilliant ensemble cast that includes some of the hottest names from American stage and TV circles. Staged by the world-famous New York Philharmonic, Company was recorded live from the Avery Fisher Hall at the Lincoln Center, New York in 2011 and is now screening in cinemas outside the US for the first time.

I’ve got my tickets booked, and even managed to rope my poor friends into coming along.

That’s awesome! I’m so jealous that you got a poster but happy that you’ll finally be able to see it in the theater:)

@Kris
If it wasn’t the last poster, I would have tried to get more to send out to the Hubsters. Maybe I can get some more from the cinema.

This reminds me, did you ever get your Colbert tote bag? If not, we need to seriously get you one!
To be honest, it’s just sweet that any of us have a poster. Way to go, using your allure, lady! I tip my hat to you.

@Kris
It is en route. Which reminds me, I totally need to check the order status, with all the flooding we’re getting at the moment it’s likely floated down the street!

Glad to hear about the bag but not the flooding! You’re going to love the play, I know I was totally blown away by Patti Lupone’s performance (surprise, surprise). Ha! I was the only person under the age of 60 in the theater:)

Well done Katt! I was so excited to read this, and clicked over to the site straight away to book. And then didn’t. Because not only does Melbourne not have posters, we DON’T HAVE THE SCREENINGS. They chose select cinemas in five states and couldn’t select us? Event Cinemas! (Shakes fist in a “Manilow!” kind of way). I have emailed them. Are there other Hubsters in Melbourne? Want to email as well?

OK, props to Event Cinemas customer service, who are at work on this rainy Saturday afternoon and said it will be on in Melbourne at Palace cinemas – http://www.palacecinemas.com.au/events/sondheimscompanymusicaltheatre/ – in case that helps anyone!
I haven’t managed to get tickets yet because the “purchase” link goes to this site – http://www.more2screen.com/our-content/now-booking/sondheims-company/ – and then back to the Palace site – something buggy there so I might ring instead – but if you look at the “more2screen” link there are listings there for lots of extra Australian screenings as well as a huge number of screenings in the UK, Ireland and even one in Malta. Hope that helps someone; I’m super-pleased that I’ll get to see it (one way or another)!

@Anna S
OMG that is insanely cruel!! Of all places in Australia, you would think Melbourne and Sydney are certain to have it.
I know how you feel, I was so excited that “Qi” and “Top Gear” were taping shows in Australia, I rushed to book tickets, then bam Melbourne only. There is seriously no logic or consistency to scheduling entertainment in this country.
Thanks for the extra info! I can’t view the more2screen website. I get a malicious ware warning as soon as the page loads. Is anyone else having this problem?
