In a first step to reform the money in politics, House Democrats are reintroducing the DISCLOSE Act today to get unlimited, secret donations out of politics. The Supreme Court’s decision in Citizens United opened the floodgates to unrestricted special interest campaign donations in American elections—permitting corporations to spend unlimited funds, directly or through third parties and Political Action Committees organized for those purposes, to influence Federal elections and opened the door for the emergence of Super PACs.

This is absolutely fascinating, and proves that satire can have a real impact on our language, discourse and behavior. I will be very interested to see the attacks that will inevitably come from the CHiRPs on the far right.

I so completely HEART the rabbit hole that this is becoming. I can’t wait until Monday to follow Stephen as he hopefully charges straight down into it!

Yes! I thought this was pretty funny, and I do hope Stephen will jump right in. Sometimes he doesn’t if it seems too directly targeted, but this fits well into his agenda.
When I saw the headline at first, I thought it might be serious, since Madame Pelosi can lack a sense of humor sometimes. But this works. I was pleasantly surprised.

I actually thought it might be a hoax with someone sounding like her doing the v.o. In fact, even when she showed up at the end, I thought they might have bogarted an “I approve” tag from some other video and just matched the sound really well. I didn’t really believe it until I SAW her say the “Stop Colbert” part of website name. Pelosi gets a cookie for acknowledging that “Stephen” can be made use of in a smart way as opposed to suggesting that people run from him.

Hey, does anyone know if her filmmaker daughter Alexandra had anything to do with this? I haven’t been able to find anything confirming that.
